COSTA RICA | Flood Rescue Course in Puntarenas

Updated: Feb 11, 2023

As part of the actions carried out by #HumanitarianConsultants, we began the preparation process for the response in Costa Rica. This process is being led by Mr. Sergio Flores, Director of the #FloodRescueSchool, one of our strategic partners; in alliance with the Costa Rican Red Cross, Regional Board of Puntarenas. Being held in Parrita, Costa Rica on February 10, 11, and 12.

This Flood Rescue Course is carried out for the benefit of the volunteer and permanent staff of the Costa Rican Red Cross in the Puntarenas Region.

We strategically carried out this activity in this area as a response to the high demand for preparation for flooding in the face of the rainy season and atmospheric phenomena typical of the coastal regions of Costa Rica.

As mentioned by Mr. Gustavo Artavia, President of the Costa Rican Red Cross for the Puntarenas Region "It has been a very enriching process from the formulation of the initiative, the union of ideas and the logistical work." On this occasion, 25 Red Cross members from the Puntarenas Region are being trained to improve the Regional response capacity to Floods and Emergencies in Rivers.

"The results will always be favorable for the most vulnerable, for those who need help and urgently need professional and quality assistance" Mr. Artavia also added. Therefore, MD. Roberto Brito, President and CEO of Humanitarian Consultants added: "Together we do more, we do it better and we go further".

In addition, personnel from the National Firefighters Corp, the National Emergency Commission of the area, and the Aerodiva company participate in the event.
